Two Courses

A 16km deep-‐water course with two 500 metre portages. Beginning at Lion’s Beach, participants will paddle to the top of Lake Mic Mac. There they will portage 500 metres within Shubie Park until they reach the “Deep Cut” of the historic Shubenacadie Canal. Participants must then paddle to the top of Lake Charles, turn a buoy, and retrace their path to the starting point on Lake Banook.

A 6km deep-‐water course well suited to the recreational paddler. Participants will paddle to the top of Lake Mic Mac where they will turn a buoy and return to the starting line. This course has no portage.

*Mid-‐October weather can be sunny and warm, or not. Regardless of the day, the water is beginning to cool and we recommend that all participants wear their certified PFDs. Paddle craft should be equipped with appropriate safety supplies, including a whistle (canoes should have a bailer, spare paddle, and throwing line).
