Nova Scotia is a paddler's paradise. There are hundreds of inland lakes, rivers and streams to explore. Most are accessible, but just a few paddle strokes puts you into areas of the province rarely traveled. The fishing and hunting tradition in Nova Scotia has created a web of portages and trails. Look at Inland routes for some suggestions.
Nova Scotia's coastline is a wealth of coves, headlands, beaches and islands just waiting to be explored by canoe or sea kayak. Look at Coastal Routes for some suggestions.
You'll find information on how to access inland lakes and rivers, and coastal areas by going to the Access link
Some of Nova Scotia's rivers offer good whitewater paddling opportunities. There is a small but enthusiastic ww Kayaking fraternity that paddle regularly throughout the year. WWW. atlantickayaker.com and paddleovascotia.groups.google.com are a good resource for infomation on locations and conditions. We also have some very good atlantic coastal surf for those who enjoy the sport of kayak surfing.
